Air Separation Units & Nitrogen Plants

CRDS TECHNOLOGY IN AIR SEPARATION UNITS AND NITROGEN PLANTS

Gas purity monitoring is essential in air separation units, where the use of CRDS (Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy) gas analysis technology proves invaluable. This technology enables the real-time monitoring of oxygen and nitrogen streams as they undergo separation from air, ensuring the desired purity levels are achieved.

CRDS gas analysis technology allows for the detection and measurement of impurities such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, and hydrocarbons, which can impact the final product’s quality. By monitoring the purity of the streams in real-time, operators can promptly identify any deviations and make necessary process adjustments to ensure the end product meets the required specifications.

Similarly, in nitrogen plants, CRDS gas analysis technology is employed to monitor the purity of the produced nitrogen gas. This technology enables the detection and measurement of impurities such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and moisture that may affect the quality of nitrogen gas. Real-time monitoring empowers operators to adjust the production process, ensuring the final product adheres to the necessary purity standards.

The monitoring of gas purity in air separation units brings various benefits. Firstly, it enables process optimization by identifying deviations from desired purity levels. Continuous monitoring allows for timely adjustments, ensuring the efficient and consistent production of high-purity gases. This optimization leads to improved process efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and cost savings.

Announcing that Tiger Optics CRDS Gets CGA Approval

Commodity Specification for Nitrogen

The Compressed Gas Association Standard, CGA G-10.1, Commodity Specification for Nitrogen, now cites Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy as an approved method for moisture measurement.

CGA standards have been adopted by governmental agencies in the United States and Canada.

Based on a unanimous decision by the members of the Atmospheric Gases and Equipment Committee in August 2016, this change is welcome news to our many users in the industrial gas community. Specializing in CRDS since 2001, Tiger Optics offers a proven range of moisture analyzers for nitrogen.

For decades, our TIGER OPTICS™ Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) gas analyzers have had a long history in industrial gas, medical gas, and chemical processing enabling detection of moisture and other rogue impurities in process gas streams, including inert, reactive, corrosive, bulk and specialty gases.
