Dew Point Chilled Mirror
Hygrometers
We are an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited SCS calibration laboratory delivering the highest, traceable accuracy in temperature and humidity | SCS Calibration Laboratory. As an internationally recognized leading manufacturer of high-quality dew point chilled mirror hygrometers used in a variety of humidity calibration, measurement and gas quality applications, our MBW™ instruments provide the calibration traceability for many laboratories such as humidity instrument manufacturers and National Metrology Institutes. Our chilled dew point mirrors continue to be the transfer standard for inter-laboratory comparisons both regionally and internationally.
Our MBW chilled mirror analyzers have a typical service life of more than 15 years thanks to the use of high-quality materials and Swiss precision engineering. The high-quality platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) element embedded within the mirror ensures excellent long-term measurement stability. Thanks to the precise dew point and temperature measurements as well as the stability and long service life, our chilled mirrors are used by national standards and accredited laboratories worldwide.
Our chilled mirror analyzers typically offer high accuracy, repeatability, and sensitivity, as well as low maintenance requirements and a wide measurement range. They are also suitable for measuring the dew point temperature of various gases, including compressed air, natural gas, and industrial gases, as well as for measuring the frost point temperature of refrigerants and other low-temperature fluids.
Industries that use our chilled mirror analyzers:
As a Swiss Designated Institute (DI) for hygrometry, we have a responsibility for maintaining and improving the standards for humidity in Switzerland. To achieve this, we continually improve methods of calibration by implementing new techniques to extend our range of capability and improve our published CMC (Calibration and Measurement Capability). We have implemented Primary Realizations for low and high range humidity generation (based on temperature and pressure). This has resulted in CMCs that compare favorably with the leading National Metrology Institutes worldwide.
Our CMC can be viewed here at the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) website. As an accredited provider, we are regularly audited by external technical and quality assessors who regularly compare calibration with other NMIs or DIs.
An essential part of our role as the Designated Institute for humidity is fundamental research. This activity is driven by the necessity for continual improvement in our knowledge, the reduction in our measurement uncertainties, and specific requirements from our customers and business partners. Our in-house research laboratory is equipped with humidity and temperature generation equipment that compares with the very best laboratories around the world, so we are able to replicate operational conditions that mirror our customers activity. In combination, we have a comprehensive range of analytical equipment that enable us to thoroughly investigate cause and effect.
As an example, we are able to photograph and video condensation formation on the chilled mirrors in our transfer standard mirrors. This has enabled us to solve issues where interference effects have increased measurement uncertainties in certain scenarios.

Climatic chambers are in widespread use across many industries. They are used to simulate climatic conditions including temperature, humidity, pressure, vibration and light intensity. Conditions are controlled or varied according to user or test specifications. Products and samples are placed within the controlled environment according to defined test specifications that require certain conditions to be maintained. Examples include 40 °C / 75 %rh for drug stability and 85 °C / 85 %rh for electronic component testing. Confirmation that the correct environmental conditions have been achieved is a pre-requisite for compliance with the respective standards that apply in each industry.

As a Designated Institute, MBW CALIBRATION is an associate of EURAMET and is allowed to participate in issues to share and develop knowledge on ISO/IEC 17025 and on the implementation into the National Metrology Institutes (NMIs).
MBW CALIBRATION chilled mirror analyzers are most commonly used as the transfer standard to maintain traceability. As a Swiss Designated Institute for Hygrometry (DI), we participate in different activities, working groups, committees etc. related to metrology.
We perform humidity calibration and MBW is ISO17025 certified. We are leaders in humidity standards. Our chilled mirror analyzers provide long-term stability to achieve lower uncertainty of calibration (CMC) levels.
MBW Calibration GmbH in Fellbach is a calibration laboratory (D-K-21411-01) for humidity and temperature accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. IN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for laboratory operation and management. As an accredited DAkkS/ DKD calibration laboratory, this certifies our quality and reliability of our test and measurement results. Our customers can trust our results.
