- QuickTOCtrace™ and QuickTOCpurity™: Designed for ultra-pure water monitoring with superior sensitivity and precision.
Catalyst-Free Thermal Oxidation Method
Unlike conventional systems, our analyzers use a catalyst-free thermal oxidation method. This advanced technique provides high-speed, high-accuracy TOC measurement by oxidizing organic compounds at high temperatures without the need for added catalysts.
How Our Catalyst-Free Thermal Oxidation Technology Works
Our analyzers use a catalyst-free thermal oxidation method, delivering fast and precise TOC, COD, and BOD analysis without the operational drawbacks of traditional systems. The process:
- High-Temperature Combustion: Water samples are heated to 680–1200°C to fully oxidize organic contaminants.
- CO₂ Detection: Oxidized carbon is measured via infrared detection or gas chromatography.
- Accurate TOC Output: The measured CO₂ correlates directly with TOC levels, ensuring consistent, reproducible data.

Maintenance-free sampling system FlowSampler
The LAR FlowSampler is a patented sampling device from LAR which does not require filtration because the sample is siphoned off from the sample stream towards the main flow direction of the water. Therefore, no large particles can get into the sample stream. The smaller particles are collected because the unaltered sample then enters the system. The FlowSampler can handle even difficult challenges like the sampling at the inlet of a sewage treatment plant or before the course screening.
Technical Description
The sampling device FlowSampler requires a flow of 2-5 m³/h (max. 10 m³/h) and at a max. counter pressure of <0.2 bar at the sampling tube of the FlowSampler (Di = 3). The temperature of the sample should be less than 50 °C. For sample temperatures up to 90°C, a special PP version of the FlowSampler is available.
The connection of the FlowSampler can be realised as a PVC tube screwing of 32 mm (external) or as tube connection for a pressure hose with 30 mm internal diameter. For the sample drain the same dimensions are valid.
The sample dosing can be done by an immersion pump which may require a cutting device, depending on sample composition. The pump should guarantee the necessary flow of 2-5 m³/h (max. 10 m³/h) over the bridged distance.
The FlowSampler from LAR is installed next to the analytical device (i.e. at the wall).
Certified housings for special conditions
Often, online analyzers are installed in industrial facilities such as refineries or chemical plants. Here explosive gasses, vapors or mist can be present. It is a high-risk situation, as any spark or any heat source may cause an explosion. Normally analyzers are located directly at the process site, being built into an analyzer shelter with climate control (HVAC; heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
LAR offers a wide range of analyzers with tailor made protection housings in accordance to international standards (IEC 60079-14:2007) and regulations (DIN EN 60079-2:2011-11). These stand-alone analyzers do not necessarily require air-conditioned shelters as their enclosures correspond to requirements of Nema 4X (IP 65) and ATEX for Zone 1 and 2 (T3, T4). The Ex housings are made specifically for the use within hazardous, potentially explosive and the NEMA 4X housings for corrosive environments.
The Ex zone classification depends on the type of flammable substances e.g. gas, vapour, mist or a cloud of combustible dust and the probability that they can be present.
- Ex zone 0: Gas, vapor or mist are present continuously or for long periods or frequently.
- Ex zone 1: Gas, vapor or mist is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.
- Ex zone 2: Gas, vapor or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation, but – if it does occur – will persist for a short period only.
Safe. Reliable. Proven.
LAR delivers trusted solutions for online water analysis—even in the most hazardous and corrosive environments. With our Ex p protected analyzers, operators gain safe, robust, and compliant monitoring directly in Ex zones.
🌍 Hundreds of LAR analyzers equipped with pressurized enclosures (Ex p) are operating successfully across the globe, providing optimal performance and safety for critical industrial processes.
