Extrel CMS was founded in 1964 as Extranuclear Laboratories by Professors Ted Brackmann and Wade Fite from the University of Pittsburgh. The company was established to provide innovative power supplies for mass spectrometry. In 1985, it became Extrel Corporation to focus more on analytical mass spectrometry products. In 2004, the company changed its name to Extrel CMS, LLC. As of 2025, Extrel CMS is 61 years old. The company has been recognized as a leader in quadrupole mass spectrometry, providing solutions for research, laboratory, and process applications.
