COSA Xentaur Calorimeters

Accurate and Reliable COSA Xentaur Calorimeters

Precision Calorimetry for Reliable Fuel Gas Analysis

COSA Xentaur was founded in 1982 by Christoph Mueller. As of 2025, the company is 43 years old.   COSA Xentaur™ has become a recognized leader in industrial measurement technology. As our flagship line of calorimeters, COSA Xentaur systems are proudly engineered and manufactured in Houston, Texas, delivering exceptional accuracy, reliability, and performance to industries around the world.  It was acquired by Process Insights in 2017.

Built for today’s demanding energy and process environments, COSA Xentaur calorimeters are designed to precisely measure critical fuel gas parameters.

  • Wobbe Index: A critical parameter for determining the interchangeability of fuel gases
  • Heating Value (BTU): The energy content of fuels and gases
  • Combustion Air Requirement Index (CARI): A measure of the air required for efficient combustion

Moreover, these advanced instruments feature robust construction, minimal maintenance requirements, and intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. As a result, they are ideal for both new installations and retrofit applications, offering flexibility without compromising performance.

Thanks to their continuous, real-time measurement capabilities, COSA Xentaur calorimeters empower operators to make smarter, faster decisions that lead to greater fuel efficiency, improved safety, and consistent product quality.

Whether you operate in refining, power generation, natural gas distribution, or petrochemical processing, COSA Xentaur provides the dependable data and operational confidence you need to stay ahead. With proven technology and responsive support, we help you optimize performance and minimize risk – every second, every day.

There are 2 types of COSA Xentaur Calorimeters:

  • “Injection-style” zero-hydrocarbon emissions calorimeters: Used for environmental monitoring of flares to meet the new and existing rules and regulations in refineries, chemical production facilities and mid-stream gathering plants. Handling high sulfur sample streams that plug other residual calorimeters.
  • Continuous measurement calorimeters: Used in industrial and commercial settings, such as power plants, refineries, and chemical production facilities and mid-stream gathering, to monitor the energy content of the materials being processed and optimize the efficiency of the production process. By continuously measuring the calorific value of the material, operators can adjust the process parameters in real-time to minimize energy consumption, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
