what is a trace moisture analyzer

what is a trace moisture analyzer?

A trace moisture analyzer from Process Insights is an instrument that measures very small amounts of water vapor (moisture) in gases typically at ppm, ppb, or even ppt levels so users can verify gas purity, protect sensitive processes, and prevent contamination. Process Insights mainly offers trace moisture analyzers through its TIGER OPTICS™ CRDS product line for ultra-high-purity and specialty gas applications, and through COSA XENTAUR™ dew point analyzers for broader industrial moisture monitoring.

How Process Insights trace moisture analyzers work

TIGER OPTICS analyzers use Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS). Laser light is trapped in a reflective optical cavity and the analyzer measures how quickly the light decays. Even tiny amounts of moisture absorb some of that light, allowing the analyzer to calculate the moisture concentration with very high sensitivity and fast response. These analyzers are used in ultra-high-purity gas moisture analysis and ppb-level trace moisture detection in inert, corrosive, toxic, and specialty gases.  They are easy to install and operate, low maintenance, and very cost-effective.

Examples of trace moisture analyzers

What trace moisture analyzers are typically used for

Trace moisture analyzers are commonly used for:

  • Semiconductor gas purity monitoring
  • Industrial and specialty gas production
  • Hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, argon, and oxygen purity verification
  • Medical and packaged gas quality
  • Cylinder filling and gas distribution
  • Chemical and petrochemical process monitoring
  • Low-pressure moisture monitoring in life sciences and vacuum systems
